As a final reminder, today, April 18 is the tax filing deadline. The Office of Tax and Revenue (OTR) reminds District residents who are unable to file their individual income tax returns by today’s deadline may apply for an extension by using the FR-127 Extension Voucher via MyTax.DC.gov. The FR-127 will allow a six month extension to file an individual income tax return, however, it does not extend a due date to pay an amount due to the District of Columbia.

E-filing is faster, minimizes errors, and provides filers with an electronic filing acknowledgement.
OTR offers the following electronic filing methods:
- Free File: A service that allows taxpayers to choose from a number of free tax prep software options
- Fillable Form: An online version of the D-40/D-40EZ form and schedules that allows taxpayers to fill in their tax information, e-sign, and e-file their return.

Quick Payment Options
For taxpayers who owe the District, OTR’s web tax portal, MyTax.DC.gov provides the convenience of making tax payments without having users log into the system. On the bottom of MyTax.DC.gov homepage, look for the ‘QUICK PAYMENTS’ option to pay by e-check or credit/debit card.
